The Instant multi-cult experience first opened its doors on one of the main circuit cables running through Budapest – Nagymező Street, in September 2008. Stepping through the gates you’d be forgiven for thinking you in a typical housing block, so common in ’pest, were it not for the young visual artists who have made sure that the words ’boring’ and ’ordinary’ are forgotten khmm… instantly!

While walking through what used to be the living space of past residents, a different ambience descends upon you in the basement, and on the two upper floors – come and have a look around!

You can enter each room through one of the green doors, just click and you’re inside...
Looking around: left-click your mouse and move it from left to right, up and down; Zooming in/out: use the wheel on your mouse

Let’s have a quick look-around, so it’ll be easier for you to find the room that best fits your mood once you’re on location…

Basement

The organisers of Instant House are dedicated followers of the underground music scene, and thus aim to liven up Budapest night-life with weekly club residencies, a diverse selection of styles, international acts and local heroes. In addition to music, as champions of all things culturally relevant, we’re also happy to serve as the venue of choice for performers, theatre, stand-up comedy and screenings

Upper levels

Similar to the gallery, we offer performance space for theatre productions, talks and lectures, concerts, club nights and any other worthy performances. Artists may use the concert hall in the basement, or the other exciting areas this unique building has to offer.
A squat-turned-hospitality venue in one of the set-to-be-demolished (but still standing) buildings of Nagymező street, sporting classic, ’Pest-style circular corridors. The room-to-room feeling gets hold of you the Instant you set foot in the building: close to a form of time-travel, you can sit in granny’s favourite chair in one room, then go onto a dentist’s surgery in the next, just to end up in a genuine, socialist-era block-flat living room… and to keep you from drying out during this journey, you can choose from the following:
